Over 9300 visitors at the 3rd Edition of SOUTHPACK-2007 co-located with PHARMAPACK-2007 ensured a brilliant conclusion to the largest packaging exhibition to be ever organized in South India.

121 Exhibitors from across 7 countries showcased the widest variety of packaging machinery, material,

products and solutions in floor space in excess of 45,000 sq.ft at the Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai, India from the 27-29 July 2007.

Realising the importance that packaging plays in the pharmaceutical industry, co-located with SOUTHPACK-2007 was PHARMAPACK-2007, India’s first dedicated
 
event on pharmaceutical packaging.

While over 90% of the trade visitors were from India, around 9% came from countries such as Sri Lanka, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Africa. The highlight of this year’s event was the quality of visitors. Senior Management representing food, confectionery, bakery, processed food, pharmaceutical, dairy & meat, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage, cosmetics and toiletries, garments and textiles, fisheries visited the Southpack-2007 and Pharmapack-2007.

Exhibitors Delighted

The main feature of this years’ edition was that the exhibitors as well as the visitors found the event to be very rewarding. “Absolutely brilliant” was the unanimous opinion amongst the exhibitors and the visitors.

launch new products, create awareness and expanding their customer base.

As high as 88% of the exhibitors described their participation as “Extremely Rewarding” and said that they met their major target groups at Southpack-2007 and Pharmapack-2007. Most of them mentioned of the new business contacts they made and several of .
the exhibitors also informed of having sold their machinery off their booth. This opinion was reinforced by a neutral survey of exhibitors on the last day of
 
the show.

Trade visitors                  extremely satisfied
The exhibition was also credited with certain remarkable verdicts from the trade visitors on the products and contact opportunities offered. As in the past years, 95% of the visitors were satisfied or very satisfied with the event. The visitors came to the show to find efficient and cost effective packaging solutions and the exhibitors were successful in showing them faster, finer and more efficient ways of packing. Many of the visitors came with immediate buying requirement. The exhibitors also fulfilled the operators’ pressing wish to simplify maintenance and cleaning and thus minimize the unnecessary costs. Southpack-2007 and Pharmapack-2007 clearly showed that the exhibitors have met the customers’ requirement for faster and safer maintenance, as unproductive time particularly costs money in all areas. This means the exhibition duo was fully in line with the trend towards the increasing effective use of resources and the fast and safe manufacture of products with a consistently high quality level.
The visitors came from various industries. Prominent among these were food,
 
confectionery, bakery, processed food, pharmaceutical, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage, cosmetics and toiletries, garments & textiles, fisheries. Most of the trade visitors were involved in procurement decisions.

A survey of visitors
revealed that they came to the show to gather information on newer packaging technologies, to make contact with new suppliers, to renew contact with their existing suppliers and many to exchange views with their industry colleagues.

Next Edition : 40% Bigger & Better

The 4th Edition of SOUTHPACK-2008 with PHARMAPACK-2008 and PackagePrint Expo 2008 will be organized in floor space in excess of 63,000
sq. ft., 40% bigger than the previous edition. The event will be organized in Hall 2 & 3 of the Chennai Trade Centre from 27 – 29 June 2008.
